The Summer holidays are upon us once again, so what is going on to entertain the little ones this summer? Here are some of our top picks for a day out with the kids!


Free Family Learning Days at Raystede

Animal Super Powers - Wednesday 27 & Thursday 28 July; Wednesday 3 & Thursday 4 August, and Wednesday 10 & Thursday 11 August.


Visit Raystede to find out all about the superpowers of their amazing animals! Which animal can recognise up to 100 different faces? Who is the chewing champion? Discover these fun facts and more; make a day of it and have lunch in the Raystede café too!


There's a special discount in Raystede's café for much-needed refreshments, plus a shop and free parking. All proceeds go towards caring for the animals at Raystede and donations are much appreciated.


Solve the clues to find the poos -Wednesday 17 & Thursday 18 and Wednesday 24 & Thursday 25 August.


The second trail of the summer invites you to solve the cryptic clues to find out which of the animals are hiding the secret numbers. Will you be able to track down all of the numbers and use them to uncover a fascinating animal poo fact?


There will also be arts and crafts to do on the day! Make masks of your favourite animals and watch Raystede animal films in a yurt.


Medieval Monday at Lewes Castle

Drop-in activities for young people of all ages, exploring life in the medieval ages at Lewes Castle & Museum. Running from 11.00am to 1.00pm on Mondays 25 July, 1, 8, 15 and 22 August, our educational team will oversee games, organise drawing activities and run sessions on castles and knights.

All ages are welcome. No booking is required.

Activities included in general admission to the castle and museum site.

Tudor Tuesday at Anne of Cleves House

Discover what life was like 500 years ago at our Tudor themed sessions in Anne of Cleves House, Lewes. The drop-in sessions will run from 1pm to 4pm on Tuesday 23 August featuring a range of family activities including spinning, sewing and drawing.

It's the perfect way to keep all the family entertained during the school holidays. All ages welcome. Activities included in general admission.

Get a taste for Tudor life by coming along and meeting the Tudor Housewife of Anne of Cleves House.

Our wonderful guide will help you discover all about cooking, cleaning and clothing in a Tudor House.

The drop in session which is suitable for people of all ages will run from 10am to 1pm.

There is no extra cost with the session included in general admission to the property.


Pots and Tiles at Lewes Castle

Lewes


Drop-in to the Gun Garden for activities on a Pots and Tiles theme. Make pots and tiles to take away inspired by the museum. All ages are welcome. No booking is required. Activities included in general admission to the castle and museum site.

The Flying Scotsman at Bluebell Railway

17 August - 5 September 2022

The Flying Scotsman will be running on regular services and special dining trains at Bluebell Railway this summer. The Flying Scotsman will be running non-stop return services between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead for five days. All seats must be pre-booked in advance.


Visitors will also be able to see the locomotive on static display at Sheffield Park from 17 August. Visit Website
